A quartet of recorders and of different musical styles - this is the mark of Quinta Essentia group. As a result of a friendship made in Brazilian music festivals, Alfredo Zaine, Guilherme dos Anjos, Gustavo de Francisco and Renata Pereira joined in 2006 to bring forth the desire to show the recorder to the Brazilian public. It was exploring the possibilities of this unique instrument that the recorder became the essence of the group's work. Through a consistent work, Quinta Essentia has won several prizes such as Petrobras Young Chamber Music Players National Contest [2007] and Stimulus Music Award of São Paulo State Culture Secretary [2007]. The latter made possible the recording of the first album called “La Marca”.
In their concerts, the quartet seeks to bring together original works, transcriptions, arrangements and adaptations in order to spread the recorder, its instruments family and the quartet formation. Today, the group presents its repertoires called Flauti di Camera, Whirlwhistle, Combining Voices and Brazilian Poems. The quartet is also developing two projects: “Identidade”, a collection of compositions created by Brazilian composers in a special partnership with the group; and Flauta, Flautinha, Flautão! a didactic repertoire for schools, universities, educational places or companies, whose goal is to enlighten the public, to help teachers which use the recorder in musical education of children, and to talk about music production, rehearsals, organization and leadership (in the case of a company presentation). Through these works, it is perceptible the result of the repertoire and interpretation research, strengthening the proposal of spreading the recorder, its repertoire and new compositions specially created for this formation.
